1. Our status
Quant Desk provides software development, quantitative research and infrastructure services. We are not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India as an Investment Adviser, Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Merchant Banker or stock broker, and we do not carry on any of those activities. Nothing on this website, in our documents, or in any conversation with us constitutes investment advice, a research report, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or derivative.
2. No advice, no funds, no discretion
- We do not recommend securities, strike prices, entry levels or position sizes as advice. Where such parameters appear in a project, they are the client's own specification, implemented as instructed.
- We do not accept client funds, do not hold client securities, and do not have trading authority over any client account.
- We do not operate managed accounts, pooled schemes, profit-sharing arrangements or performance-linked fees.
- We do not sell trading signals, tips or calls, and we do not operate a subscription signal service.
3. No assurance of returns
We give no guarantee, promise, assurance or projection of profit, return, win rate or performance of any kind, whether for software we build, strategies we validate, or code sold through the shop. Any historical, backtested or simulated result presented anywhere on this site or in our reports is illustrative only.
Simulated results have inherent limitations. They are prepared with the benefit of hindsight, do not involve financial risk, cannot fully account for liquidity, slippage, order rejection, latency or the behaviour of the market when a real order is placed, and are frequently sensitive to small changes in assumptions. Past performance and simulated performance are not indicative of future results.
4. Risk warning
Trading and investing in securities, futures and options carries a substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every person. Losses can exceed the capital deployed in leveraged products. SEBI's own studies on individual traders in the equity derivatives segment have repeatedly shown that a large majority lose money. Automation does not remove that risk; it changes its speed. Trade only with capital you can afford to lose, and make your own decisions or consult a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser.
5. Your obligations under the SEBI algo framework
SEBI's circular of 4 February 2025 on safer participation of retail investors in algorithmic trading, together with the exchange implementation standards issued from July 2025 and the phased timeline running to 1 April 2026, places obligations on brokers, algo providers and clients. In summary, and without this being legal advice:
- Algorithms used to place orders through a broker's API generally require registration with the exchange through your broker, and orders carry a unique algo identifier.
- Brokers are responsible for API access controls, including static IP registration and order-rate thresholds; API usage above the prescribed orders-per-second threshold is treated as algorithmic trading and must be registered.
- White-box (disclosed logic) and black-box (undisclosed logic) algos are treated differently; providers of black-box strategies face additional registration requirements.
- Algo providers must be empanelled with the exchanges through brokers.
Where we build or modify software for you, you remain the owner and operator of that algorithm. Registering it with your broker and the exchange, complying with rate limits and audit requirements, and ensuring your usage matches your broker's terms are your responsibility. We will support your registration paperwork with technical documentation, but we cannot register on your behalf and we do not act as your broker or exchange intermediary.
6. Intellectual property and confidentiality
Strategy logic supplied by a client remains the client's property. Deliverables built to a client's specification are assigned to the client on final payment, excluding our pre-existing libraries, which are licensed to the client for use within the delivered system. We treat client strategies as confidential and will sign an NDA before receiving material.
7. Testimonials and examples
Any client example on this site is used with permission, describes engineering outcomes only, and never states or implies profit. Charts are illustrative and use simulated or anonymised data.
8. Grievances
Write to us at the email on the contact page with the subject "Grievance". We acknowledge within two working days and aim to resolve within fifteen. As we are not a SEBI-registered intermediary, complaints relating to our services are not eligible for the SCORES platform or exchange investor grievance mechanisms; disputes are governed by the terms of service.
